PCT0101 Patient Care Technician Review Course
Review and prepare for the National Healthcareer Association's Patient Care Technician Certification exam. Upon completion of this program, students will take the NHA certification test for Patient Care Technician. NHA study guide and exam fee included. Students enrolling in this course must have proof of NY State Nurse Assistant Certification and a NHA Certification in Phlebotomy/EKG.

CST0105 Clinical Medical Assistant NHA Certified Course
Prepare for employment in medical offices, hospitals, labs and other health related facilities. Upon successful completion of this National Healthcareer Association (NHA) approved program, students will be eligible to take the NHA certification test for Medical Assistant and Phlebotomy Technician. This course includes live venipuncture and capillary puncture in class. Participating students and volunteer subjects must sign an "Acknowledgement of Risk" form. Emergency First Response certification included. Topics include infection control, safety, medical emergenices, body systems, medical terminology, assisting with the physical exam, measuring vital signs, basic electrocardiography (EKG), phlebotomy, routine lab tests, patient communication, and the role and ethical responsibilities of Medical Assistants. HS Diploma or equivalent required. The minimum reading leavel necessary to enroll is 8.0. Tuition includes books, basic equipment kit, lab coat, materials and NHA Certification test fee. CST0106 Medical Office Management NEW NHA Certified Course
Want to have an "in-demand" skill? Medical Office Management will allow you to step into a good paying job in a medical office, hospital or other health related office. Upon successful completion of this National Healthcareer Association (NHA) approved program, students will be eligible to take the NHA certification test for Billing and Coding Specialist and/or Medical Administrative Assistant. Topics of instruction include: ethics, medical records, medical terminology, medical billing, ICD/CPT coding, health insurance, billing/collections, office management and patient file management systems. The minimum reading level necessary to enroll in this course is 8.0. Basic computer skills necessary. Tuition includes books and materials. HS Diploma or equivalent required for NHA Certification. Certification Test Fee additional. Limit of 12 students.

PHL0101 Phlebotomy and Electrocardiography(EKG)
Learn the skills and responsibilities of the professional Phlebotomist and EKG technician. Topics of instruction include universal precautions, capillary punctures,complications of phlebotomy and special procedures and more. Then study the principles of electrocardiography and train to perform a 12 lead EKG. Understand the relationship of the conduction system to the cardiac cycle. Learn to prepare patients for EKG, identify dysrhythmias, recognize technical errors and react to emergency situations. This course is a combination of theory and practical training. This courseis designed for individuals with previous allied health training and/or experience. The minimum reading level necessary to enroll in this course is 8.0. In class, live venipunctures will be a component of this course. Participating students and volunteer subjects must sign an "Acknowledgement of Risk" form. CST0101 Pharmacy Technician Certification Program NEW
Certifed Pharmacy Technicians are in demand. Working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, medical groups, retail pharmacies and other health related facilities, Pharmacy Technicians perform a wide variet of highly specialized skills. This course includes instruction in pharmacy related medical terminology, reading and understanding prescriptions, generic and brand names, dosage calculations and conversions, drug compounding, IV flow rates, dispensing prescription medication, inventory control and billing reimbursement. Students successfully completing this course will be eligible to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification exam. High School Diploma or GED and no history of felony convictions required. Textbook included. Certification exam fee additional.
