Training Today’s Workers and Tomorrow’s Workforce
The Mechanical Trades Training Center(MTTC) is an intensive adult training day
program in the Air Conditioning/Refrigeration/Heating and Plumbing mechanical
trades. Designed as pre-apprenticeship or mechanic training the MTTC program will
equip students, successfully completing the program(s), to enter the job market at the
apprentice or mechanics helper level. EPA approved refrigerant transition/recovery
certification exam (Core, I, II, III & Universal) included
. Employment readiness
workshops, job counseling and job placement assistance is provided.

 

CST0107 Construction Trades
Are you looking for a career in the Construction Trades? Are you a homeowner who wants to save thousands being a serious do-it-yourselfer? Get skills for employment in a wide variety of construction trades, or make your house the home of your dreams. Either way, you will get hands-on experience in the building trades with this multi-trade course. The course offers instruction in using power and hand tools, reading plans, shop safety, electrical, plumbing and carpentry work, sheetrock, roofing, demolition and more. Eye Safety Required. CST0108 Automotive Service Technician
Want a career that’s always in demand? Become an automotive service technician. Dealers and private shops are seeking qualified entry-level people. Learn the basic systems and move on to maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. You will practice your skills in our fully equipped shop with our professional mechanic/instructor. Training includes shop safety, using lifts and shop equipment, diagnostics, lubrication service, brake, exhaust, suspension & steering, electrical and cooling systems and engine “tune up” service. Eye Safety Required. Students completing this class will be eligible to apply for certification as a N.Y. State Motor Vehicle Inspector (Group 1) Eye Safety Required. Instruction includes: Introduction to refrigeration and A/C theory. Identification andfunction of electrical components, controls, valves, compressors and evaporators. System assembly, trouble shooting, part repair and replacement. Air handlers, A/C systems & ice machines. Heating systems theory & installation (gas & oil fired). Boilerinstallation and repair. MTC0102 Plumbing

Instruction includes: Theory of installing rough plumbing(PVC and copper). Grades,dimensions & appropriate uses of piping materials. Types & uses of fittings and valves.Tools and supplies for cutting, threading and joining copper and PVC. Layout andinstallation & testing of supply, drain, waste and vent lines and common plumbingfixtures & devices. Eye Safety Required. ACR0105 Refrigerant Transition & Recovery Certification
HVACR mechanics, prepare to be certified in the skills for recovering and recycling refrigerants. This course includes the EPA Approved Certification Exam (Core, I, II, III& Universal). PLM0101 Plumbing 1
Our master plumber/instructor will teach you to install rough plumbing using both PVC and copper. Learn the various types and dimensions pipe and their applications, aswell as the types of fittings available. Learn to repair and replace common householdplumbing fixtures. Practice using the proper tools and supplies for cutting and joining. Begin to solder copper and glue up PVC to make watertight connections using thecorrect fittings according to standard plumbing practice. Eye Safety Required.Textbook required.

PLM0102 Plumbing 2
Continue your training in the installation of Copper and PVC plumbing in residentialsettings by learning basic layout and design. Become skilled at sweating copper and gluingup PVC. Practice running water supply and drain, waste and vent lines through residentialconstruction according to standard practice and local codes. Finish by installing commonplumbing fixtures. PRE.
