General Information
Adult Education Office Hours :
Mon. thru Thurs. 8AM-9PM, Friday 8AM-4PM .
Age Requirement:
You must be at least 18 years old to take Adult Education courses.
Payment for Courses:
Tuition (includes the cost of course materials except where noted)
and nonrefundable registration fee are payable at the time you register.
Textbooks are available for purchase in the Adult Ed office. Payment
can be by check, credit card, money order or purchase order. Ask
about our tuition payment plan for courses over $850.
Refund Policy:
Request for tuition refunds may be made in writing to the Adult Education
Office. Registration fees are non-refundable. Textbooks are not
returnable. Refund policy does not apply to LPN program.
Refunds are as follows:
100% prior to first class;
50% prior to second class;
No refund after second class
Credit card refunds will be made within 3 business days of receipt
of written withdrawal notice. Allow 6-8 weeks for refunds of checks
or money orders. Failure to attend class does not constitute an official
Withdrawal
Course Cancellations:
If BOCES cancels a course prior to the start,100% of the tuition and registration
fees is refunded. Your registration acknowledges our refund/course cancellation
policy. BOCES reserves the right to cancel or make changes in course
offerings, locations, instructors, and times if necessary.
Returned Checks:
Any fees incurred are the student's responsibility. A $15 fee will
be charged on returned checks.
Acknowledgment of Registration:
You will receive a registration receipt and be notified only if
a class is canceled, already filled or there has been a schedule change.
Class Schedule :
All classes are subject to change due to weather, availability of instructor, and over or under enrollment. BOCES makes every effort to schedule classes to meet the needs of our students. Please verify the schedule for your class with the Adult Education Office.
Attire/Conduct:
Some courses require appropriate attire for safety. Please check with
your instructor. Students are expected to conduct themselves in a mature
manner. Inappropriate/Illegal behavior or failure to follow staff directions
are not acceptable.
Completion Certificate:
A certificate of completion will be awarded to students who successfully
meet course requirements and maintain 80 percent attendance. Courses
under 10 hours do not qualify for certificates. Print your name on the
registration form as you wish it to appear on the certificate.
School Closings:
All evening classes will be cancelled on dates
when Southern Westchester Boces is closed. Weather/Emergency Cancellations
will be broadcast on WFAS Radio, 1230 AM and 103.9 FM.
Transfers:
If you want to transfer from one Adult Ed class to another, before
the second class session, there is a $10 transfer fee.
Damage to or loss of personal property
or injury on premises or off-site:
We do not assume any responsibility, either real or imposed, for
the loss of personal property or injury of any student.
Discounts:
Enroll in two classes in the same semester & pay no registration
fee.
Persons with Disabilities:
Our campus is accessible to persons with disabilities. Please notify
us at the time of registration to discuss your individual requirements.
Disclaimer:
We retain our instructors to teach courses in their areas of
expertise. Our instructors are not permitted to use the classroom for
personal gain, or to solicit clients or customers. BOCES is not responsible
